In Twelve six villagers from the province of Adana, the oldest Arab region in South-East Turkey, have the floor. They believe that they died a violent death and have been reincarnated. In a sober and restrained way they tell their story. They do not expect a spiritual status through their reincarnation, but just want to continue their new life in the neighbourhood of the old one. Because of their reincarnation they have two sets of parents, wives, children etc. Thus six people have become 'twelve lives'.
Their story testifies to the possibility of rewriting a life with the most simple means, no unbridled fantasies about amazing feats, but small-scale adjustments to create a slightly different reality for oneself. In each part of the film the protagonists address us, the viewers, tell us in great detail about their lives and make us part of their experiences.
