Material about Vicious Circle

Vicious Circle

Troy Lopez was born in Jamaica. He describes his experiences as a foreigner in Germany. He ponders over various subjects such as shopping, eating and the social differences he notices between the two different countries in which he has lived. Although he tells of everyday matters, he keeps returning to racial relationships in Germany. Again and again he talks about the impossibility for a black person to participate in social progress and thus to become a productive member of German society. He is entangled in a self-created vicious circle of complaints and the search for explanations as to why he cannot escape from this duality. The never-ending flood of words is reinforced by the circular positioning of the monitors.
